What level should I select?Rather than grade level, we have broken up the levels into four groups. - Little Wonders is best suited for ages 5-6, however this could also work for 4 year olds who are eager to learn as well. Little Wonders units are written using terminology that is easy for a 5-6 year old to comprehend. Where words are more difficult, we are sure to provide the definition, expanding your child's vocabulary. These units will also include basic tracing pages that cover lowercase and uppercase letters, as well as copying words that have to do with the lesson. Crafts and hands on activities may require a parent or older sibling, but overall we have tried to allow them to take an independent approach where they can by providing easy to follow checklists (with pictures!). Additionally, each target practice lesson allows little wonders to practice writing their name, record the day of the week, and track the weather. - Young Quivers is best suited for ages 7-8. These units will be written the same as the Little Wonders units. This was done intentionally to allow households with a child in both Little Wonders and Young Quivers levels could have a parent reading to the younger child while the older child follows along in their book. In place of tracing pages, these units will have pages that focus on vowel sounds and age specific grammar. Crafts and hands on activities will be similar as well, but with further steps added. Additionally, daily target practice pages will include weekly spelling words, calendar recording, and daily reflection with guided prompts. - Mighty Warriors is best suited for ages 9-10. These units will have go into further detail during each lesson and include extra reading and activity pages. These extra pages will encourage further thinking and writing prompts. Additionally, daily target practice pages will have weekly spelling words, daily journaling and challenges. - Giant Slayers is best suited for ages 11-12. These units will be a big step up from all other levels with the use of new words that will strengthen your child's vocabulary and language, as well as further reading pages that take each lesson a step further. These units are for the independent worker who will research and think beyond the words written within the lessons. Additionally, daily target practice pages will include weekly spelling words, daily journaling and challenges.

What are the Sharpening Arrows pages all about? Each lesson will begin with a section called "Sharpening Arrows" where the child is asked a unique question that they probably have never thought of or been asked before. This 'tradition' started in our home years ago and has brought us all closer as a family and helped my kids to learn more about one another, but also, to learn more about themselves. Sometimes these questions are silly, other times they are more on the serious side, but they are sure to result in an increased bond as you each share your answers with one another afterward.

What about those Target Practice pages? As with any skilled archer - practice makes perfect! This daily page is used as a way to practice weekly spelling words, record daily observations and details like the date and weather, and refresh your students minds on recently learned skills.

What does a normal day look like?Well first off, there are no "normal" days in homeschool - and that's just the way we like them! Each day is a new adventure and a new day to expand our minds, including us parents! However, we can say that a typical day with Arrows of Wonder begins with the Sharpening Arrows page (if you aren't familiar with this, the answer can be found on the FAQ page). Once your child(ren) have answered the daily question, feel free to share your answer as well or further discuss. We really want these questions to be a great way to open doors of communication. Next is the Sharpening Arrows page (which is also explained in the FAQs) - these help to get the mind ready to learn while getting a quick refresh on previous lessons. Then is the reading. For younger kids or early readers, this will require a parent or older sibling's help. Older kids will be able to read through the lesson themselves. They are typically about 2-3 pages on average. These pages are then followed by activity sheets - these can be hands on activities, crafts, experiments, writing, research, crosswords, drawings, the list goes on! But they are all guaranteed to make learning fun and memorable. All in all, an entire lesson and corresponding activity sheets typically take 3-4 hours. Some may be shorter or longer depending on the child and/or the activities.

How are your unit books different than others? Our unit books are all in one - you won't need a book for science, a book for grammar and language, a book for writing and spelling, a book for history, a book for bible, a book for the lesson content, and a book for seatwork. They're all conveniently in one book! These books are also printed with high-quality ink and paper. You may ask yourself why we do this since they are just going to be written in for a year, only to never be used again. But - there are a few reasons. One, kids can be rough on their books, and the last thing you need is a book that is falling apart, missing pages, and easily torn. For this reason, our pages are printed on heavy-weight paper to take the abuse from daily use. Second - by the time your child has completed each unit book, they will be filled with artwork, writings, and countless memorable answers to our daily 'Sharpening Arrows' questions. With that said, we built these books to last for years in hopes that one day, your child can look back on their books as a fun way to remember themselves at different ages. Consider them a miniature time capsule each year. All in all, we truly put an immense amount of thought not only into how the books were written, but how they were designed.

Is your curriculum Christian based?Yes it is! However, we have taken this to a whole new level. Your child won't just learn about how Simon's boat was filled with fish that one miraculous morning, they'll also be applying the story to their own lives and write about how they would have felt as a passenger on Simon's boat, and if they too would walk away from the biggest catch of their life to follow Jesus and become a fisher of men.

How does Arrows of Wonder compare to other curriculum? The short answer is - that we don't. That's not at all to sound arrogant, but we truly created this curriculum as a way to truly change the way homeschool was viewed, both outside our homes and in them. Our lessons are designed in a way that engages children by giving them real-life scenarios to compare to. We teach them beyond the basics of science, English, and history. We tie in critical thinking, character building, problem-solving, faith, and of course - wonder. Our lessons are filled with hands-on activities that send your children outdoors to explore, while other lessons let them explore their imaginations indoors with creative writing prompts.

Do you offer a family discount? As a family of 7 ourselves, we certainly understand that costs can add up rather quickly. Now if only we could get grocery stores to offer family discounts...

Do you offer PDF or digital options? At this time, we do not. We find printing books to become a bit of a messy area for most homes; between printer issues, computer issues, and just overall technology chaos, this is the exact opposite of our motto of making homeschool life as stress free as possible!

What are the beliefs of Arrows of Wonder? There are many of you who want to ensure that the curriculum your child is reading and learning from aligns with your values and beliefs. As a parent of five myself (and the only writer behind each unit), I fully understand and respect your need to validate what your children are being exposed to and taught on every level possible. While this usually is provided in the context of a Statement of Faith by most, I prefer to give you a glimpse into who I am and what my values are as a Jesus-loving daughter of the King. First and foremost, and perhaps rather the most important of my beliefs, is that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. There is nothing I need to do or can do to earn the love of God as it was a gift that was paid for by the blood of His one and only son, Jesus Christ, who was God’s walking example of Agape love on earth. However, I do believe that this love must simply be asked for by means of surrendering one’s life to God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I feel that this decision must be all-encompassing; including every part of one’s being from their mind, body, emotions, will, and spirit. Through this surrender and continued praise, prayer, worship, obedience, and reading of the living word, I believe that we will someday leave the physical earth and join Christ eternally in Heaven. To ensure that I am continually sharing the love and light of Jesus, as I believe we were meant to do, I do my very best to filter every aspect of my life through His lens. I remain obedient, even in times where I may not understand, always trusting in His timing and His plan and reminding myself that even if not, He is still and always will be good. I love others through this same lens, and believe it is our role to help others know Jesus. I believe that He loves every human being He created, and it would be wise if we did too – especially the weary and broken. I truly love my church and enjoy every moment that we gather together - both in church and out of the church as not only a community, but a family who aims to reach as many people as possible and share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ.
